WEATHER & SNOW
February is still winter in Salzburg, with crisp air, chilly mornings and the possibility of snow. Temperatures can vary quite a bit, so come prepared for anything from a beautiful snowy day to cold but clear weather.
In the city itself, however, snow cover can be unpredictable and may melt between snowy periods.
TEMPERATURES
Expect daytime temperatures around 0–6°C, with temperatures dropping below freezing in the evenings and overnight. Warmer days are possible towards the end of February, while cold spells can still bring proper winter weather.
WHAT TO WEAR
Think warm, comfortable and layered. A proper winter coat, warm knitwear, scarf and gloves are a good idea, and we strongly recommend waterproof shoes or boots with good grip. Salzburg's historic centre is very walkable, and cobblestones can become slippery when wet, icy or snowy.
